Description
Magpie Tail
The complete tail of the magpie with the iridescent greeny-blue, black feathers is to be used as wings & winging, bodies, thorax covers etc.
It has also been used as Heron/spey hackle sub. by stripping the quill sheath with the feather fibres still attached thus creating a ‘hackle’. This is then tied in and palmered to create the wonderful salmon patterns that once rulled riverbanks before salmon flies got more complicated.
